Investing in First Nations in British Columbia



The New Relationship Trust Foundation is pleased to offer Bursaries to Certificate, Diploma, Associates Degrees, and/or Trades to interested and eligible BC First Nations students. Eligible students who are enrolled in a post-secondary institution and remain in good academic standing are encouraged to apply for an NRT Foundation Bursary. Successful applicants are eligible for a maximum of two years of funding in the same field.

The 2017/18 first call for applicants will be made available on May 16. 

Deadline for application submission will be June 29.


Post-Secondary Bursaries are available to all First Nation students from BC who are planning on attending an accredited post-secondary institution on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, only members of BC First Nations are eligible for NRT Foundation Bursaries at this time.

NEW THIS YEAR! - If you are an Indigenous (First Nations, First Peoples, Métis or Inuit) resident of BC and are in a program that is in an Early Years related field of study, please apply for the Indigenous Early Years Bursary instead.

Bursaries are awarded for:

  • Trades;
  • Associate Degrees;
  • Certificate; and
  • Diploma.

Examples of Ineligible Fields of Study:

  • Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate programs
  • Professional Fees / schools
  • Education at non-recognized post-secondary institutions
  • Executive / Management programs

Foundation Partnerships

The NRT Foundation works with industry partners to build the capacity of BC First Nations through investments in education. These industry partnerships provide additional funding for specific fields of study to enable the NRT Foundation to award more scholarships and bursaries each year.
